Speakers at the PAOI Summer Institute 2007
The following speakers are scheduled to present at the 2007 PAOI Summer Institute.

Fr. Michael Anderson is presenting "Organinzing Youth and Family Ministries." Fr. Michael is the Rector of St. Christina of Tyre Mision in Fremont, CA. Previously, Fr. Michael was Director of Youth Ministries for the Orthodox Church in America.

Sr. Mary Greenan is presenting ""Youth Spirituality." Sr. Mary is an Adjunct Lecturer in Counseling at the Domincal School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley, CA. Sr. Mary is a member of the Salesian Sisters Congregation, a ministry dedicated to young people and leadership in youth ministry. For more information about Sr. Mary.

Fr. Mark Leondis is presenting the Keynote Address. Fr. Mark is the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

Mr. George Papageorge is presenting "Setting the Tone for Youth Ministries." George Papageorge is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice in Pleasanton, California, working with young people and their families for over 20 years. With degrees in both Psychology and Theology, George has extensive experience in work with Youth ministry creation, conducting youth programs, parent workshops and mentorship programs. George is active in the community, offering workshops in the areas of Boundaries, Couples Communication, Parenting and Self Esteem. He has also developed presentations that discuss the integration of psychology and the healing nature of Greek Orthodox Theology. George and his wife Kimberley live in Danville with their children Olivia and Petros.

Dr. David Randolph is presenting " Communications Technology and Youth Ministry." Dr. Randolph is associated with the Center for Arts, Religion and Education (an Affiliate of the Graduate Theological Union). Dr. Randolph is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Academy of Homiletics and was honored as on of America's Greatest Preachers. Dr. Randolph specializes in the area of communication arts in electronic media.

Fr. Kevin Scherer is presenting "Using the Bible in Youth Ministries." Fr. Kevin is the Executive Director of the Orthodox Christian Fellowship (under the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in America). Previously, Fr. Kevin was pastor at St. John the Evangelist Antiochian Orthodox Church in Orinda, CA.

Rev. Sue Singer
is presenting " Pastoral Ministry to Youth." The Rev. Singer is an Instructor in Ministry Development and the Director of the Doctor of Ministry program at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, CA. She is currently completing a PH.D. in the interdisciplinary program in Theology and Education at Boston College. Sue is a native of England and has been an Episcopal priest for fifteen years. She previosuly served as Education Coordinator for the Diocese of California and Canon Liturgist at Grace Cathedral, San Francisco. Her principal research and teaching interests are in the role of congregation in the holistic formation of religious identity for Christians of all ages, the intersections of religious and cultural identities for postmodern Christians, and new models of ministry and strategies for religious education for the twenty-first century church. While she has never been an "official" youth minister, she has always been involved ineducational, formational and pastoral work with children and youth, which is one of her passions. Dr. Anton Vrame is presenting "Will Our Children Have Faith?" Dr. Vrame is the Director of the Department of Religious Education of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. He holds the following degrees: B.A. in Psychology, DePaul University (Chicago, IL); M.A. in International Relations, The University of Chicago; M.Div., Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology; Ph.D. in Theology and Education, Boston College.
Dr. Vrame is the author of The Educating Icon: Teaching Wisdom and Holiness in the Orthodox Way (Holy Cross Orthodox Press) and editor of One Calling In Christ: The Laity in the Orthodox Church (InterOrthodox Press); The Orthodox Parish in America: Faithfulness to the Past, Responsibility for the Future (Holu Cross Orthodox Press); InterMarriage: Orthodox Perspectives (Holy Cross Orthodox Press). He is also the author of numerous articles and chapters in books on Orthodox Christian Religious Education, published both in English and Greek.
From 2002-2006, he was Director of the Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute at the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, CA. He was Associate Professor of Orthodox Studies at the GTU. From 1996-2002, he was Managing Editor of Holy Cross Orthodox Press and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, teaching courses in Religious Education. From 1999-2002, he was a Lecturer in Religious Education at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary.
Dr. Vrame Represents the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese on the Faith and Order Commision of the National Council of Churches in Christ, USA. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Religious Education. He is Vice-President of the Orthodox Theological Society of America and is leading an effort to create an international academic organization of Orthodox Christian Religious Educators.
Dr. Vrame is a native of Chicago.
